A little bit about us
As husband and wife we live and work in the beautiful town of Corning, NY. Our story has really just begun as we were married shortly after graduating from Houghton College in 2009. Later that summer we moved down to the Southern Tier of NY to begin an internship with the late Tom Buechner. Sadly, Tom passed away suddenly in June of 2010. Our time with him was very formative and it will certainly have a significant impact on our lives.
Even before getting married, it was our dream to live and work in another country for a period of time before putting down roots somewhere in the States. So, for 3 years, we worked hard to pay down some student loans and then save up some money to live on while abroad. In June of 2013, we headed off to Iringa, Tanzania to work with an organization called Neema Crafts. Originally, we anticipated this would only last a year, however, the opportunity to continue working with Neema has been offered, so for now, we are still in East Africa.
Artforms, like anything else in life, need to be practiced and cultivated. So, amidst the rest of life we are trying to do just that: cultivate the creative abilities we have been given by pursuing painting and pottery. It is the start of an adventure that we hope to make into a way of life.
